| Best dog food ever. |
As many of you may remember, feeding Roxy and keeping her healthy has been a constant battle, even before we started the Appalachian Trail. She is a picky eater and an incredibly active dog, so she has always been lean and borderline underweight. Before we started our 2,100+ mile adventure, her vet advised we find a high quality kibble to keep her going throughout our adventure.
Well it looks like we finally found it: Merrick Backcountry dog foods. As the name implies, this dog food is specially formulated for active, adventurous dogs. 200 miles into our backpacking trip, I am happy to report that this is the perfect food for Roxy. I have been feeding her the raw-infused Great Plains Red Recipe dry kibble three times a day throughout our trip, and she gobbles it up with enthusiasm. For her this is a stellar improvement, because usually she would just turn her nose up at any dry kibble.

Any time we get into a town or pick up a mail drop, Roxy gets a can of the Backcountry stew as a special treat. Just like the dry kibble, she happily devours an entire can in one feeding.
In addition to the fact that Roxy actually likes the Merrick Backcountry line of foods, there are a ton of health benefits to this particular diet. All along the trail, Roxy is constantly getting compliments about how lush and shiny her coat is. Despite living in the woods, Roxy shines like a queen. Her skin and coat have noticeably improved since she began eating the Backcountry dog food.
